Back on track

Went to the Ideal Home yesterday with best buddy C, saw some lovely stuff, bought some rubbish stuff, and my feet hurt - still. C bought these implements for cleaning your windows inside and out, they involve strong magnets, magnets strong enough to trap her against the iron supports on the station. 'What am I caught up on?' she said, as she attempted to remove her carrier bag from the column. I bent down to help, realised what the problem was and became instantly useless as I doubled over squealing with laughter. C followed suit, and there we were, two middle-aged ladies, in the middle of the rush-hour virtually rolling around the platform, laughing our heads off. Luckily the commuters found it equally amusing, we saw one walking home, still laughing. Its good to cheer people up.

Work has been all consuming, even with us community midwives helping out they are still 40% down nearly every shift. Last two shifts I worked saw Labour Ward full, 10 women, and instead of 5 midwives there were 3 of us. Getting into the concept of technology for all is coming very hard, and the first time I had to sort out intravenous drugs and pumps was an extremely quick revision test.

Daughter went back to work last night for the first time since losing 'peanut'. She found it quite emotional but coped alright and is happy to have got that 'first time' bit out of the way. There are good days and bad days, but on balance it appears that the good are starting to outweigh the bad.
