6 things about me that ..........are different, unexpected, not generally known.
At sixteen my Mum put me into a convent with girls training for the novitiate. I come from an odd family. Short version:- Going out of school for lunch saw Mum's car parked outside. She was always contacting the school with some complaint/tale telling about me, so I went back in and waited outside the Headmistresses ( Mother Mary Aquinas) office for the green light to show. Was admitted, there was Mother plus suitcases. She was leaving my Father, taking my sister and they were off to the West Country, I was staying in the convent so my O levels would not be disrupted. I lived there for 4 incredibly unhappy months, did really badly in my O levels, and lost the plot.
I left/was thrown out of home at 17. Hitchhiked 30 miles, complete with fold-up bed, to friend's house. Ended up living in rented house with friend, and 4 boys who were all hooked on heroin. I didn't go there as they all mainlined and I'm needle phobic. However, in my room was a poster saying 'They don't call me speedy for nothing'. Never returned home.
To finance college I worked in a Bingo Hall as a checker, and a prize bingo caller.
Before I started my nurse training I worked for the Inland Revenue, but I failed the medical for becoming an Established Civil Servant on psych grounds. I was accepted into nursing though!
I have appeared on TV on 3 occasions. Once a year the family get the tapes out to have a laugh.
During my life I have worked in a hairdressers, bingo hall, Inland Revenue, Royal Small Arms, skip company, gold refiners, Tesco's head office, as a nurse, a childminder, company secretary, a librarian, a gymnastics coach and, for the majority of my working life, as a midwife. Apart from a minor aberration, when I studied drama for 2 years, all I ever wanted to do was be a midwife.
Now tagging 6, no 5, others..........
Talk about the dark recesses of the mind. I've just been there, and it was pretty murky.
