(13.5.05 10:29) Princess - She's been getting lots of hugs, but only from the side, BB gets in the way! Matilda - I wish you could have heard the Doc explaining breaking the waters, words like warm, lots of gunk, running everywhere! Charliee - Hello. Stretch & Sweep is an internal examination. The idea of it to find the neck of the womb (cervix), put as many fingers into it as possible and then try to lift the membranes that surround the waters off the inside of the womb. It is sometimes very uncomfortable!! With the majority of women who are past their date for having the baby, it will make them go into labour

(13.5.05 15:10) Being a woman having a baby sounds like absolute hell. Warm, gunky, uncomfortable, fingers, membranes. Yeeuuuuck. It would be so much easier if there was a little drawer on the woman's front that unlocked with a little silver key and slid open to reveal a lovely, giggling, pristine baby lying on a nice silk taffeta cushion clutching a small perfumed note from God saying "thank you for looking after this person; as a reward I have attached next week's winning lottery numbers to the back of this card". So much more pleasant. A midwife's job then would consist mainly of making sure the silver key was kept somewhere safe and that the parents didn't spill their complimentary glasses of champagne and strawberries. Sigh, if only. |

(13.5.05 17:46) Ian - I would be out of a job + if it did happen like that imagine what the birthrate would be, condom makers would go out of business. |
