Beware - Nasty bit of deceit
WorldPay - An E-Mail arrived today, with an attatchment, supposedly from this company. I read it, worried, pondered, worried some more, then phoned my credit card company. After answering lots of questions, having first been warned by the customer services guy not to answer any question if I wasn't sure of the correct answer, he was able to assure me that no monies corresponding to the amounts mentioned in the E-Mail had been debited on my card. Just ignore it, but do not open the attatchment. I have to admit that the temptation was huge, but the thought of the financial consequences stopped me. Not being someone to take everything as gospel I did a Google search - WorldPay+spam. Bingo, first result was a virtually indentical example of the E-Mail sent to me, it has now been deleted. If you receive one please do the same. Sender is a Dave Gollick.

Flighty / Website (11.7.06 23:13) Very sensible. I had one supposedly from Barclays about my account. Only thing was I don't have an account with them. Best thing is to delete such emails straight away and never ever open the attachment. |

You would of msot certainly been infected with soemthing nasty on your pc
I get around 80 spam emails a day, andthe creativity in them ranges from the really quite pathetic, to the damn right crafty heh. Some of you it you really have to admire the ingenuity of it all, but ALWAYS from the safe distance of not opening any attachments, and using plenty of firewalls and anti virus software

mumof4 / Website (12.7.06 18:44) thanks for the advice - I am always paranoid about e-mails like this. Sometimes I delete unknown e-mails from people - especially if they have attachements, only to hear that a friend of a friend has e-mailed me for the first time...... I became very skeptical after having a Paypal fraud - someone hacked into my hotmail account and decided they'd like DVD players at my expense. it was quite difficult to sort out. Oh the joys of technology. By the way I very much enjoy your blog. I have had a midwife for all 4 of my childrens' births and they are not as easy to come by over here but give you far more time than the OBGYNs.
